Trusting the answers

Is yesterday's export fresh enough for this question?

A simple guide for owners deciding whether a scheduled copy is current enough, or whether a question needs a live connection instead.

Short answer

It depends on the question, not the tool. When the connection is fed by a scheduled export, the answer is as current as the last export ran. That is fine for most of what owners ask, because most questions are about the past. It is not fine for “what is in the case right now,” because the copy does not know about anything after the last export. Match the question to how current the data is.

An owner whose AI reads from a scheduled export and wants to know which questions to trust it for, and which need a live connection instead.

  • The time your export runs. Not when you open the file, when the data is pulled.
  • An honest split of your questions into “about the past” and “about right now.”
  • A willingness to use the right tool for each, rather than one tool for both.
  1. A scheduled export is as current as its last run. Everything up to that moment is there. Nothing after it is.
  2. Questions about the past fit well. History and trends do not change after the fact, so a copy from this morning answers them as well as a live system would.
  3. Questions about right now do not. Anything that happened since the export is invisible to the copy until the next run.
  4. Match the question to the freshness. Reach for a live connection only for the questions that truly need this minute, and let the export handle the rest.

It can

  • Answer history and trend questions reliably, as of its last run.
  • Tell you plainly when the data was captured, so you know what current means for a given answer.
  • Cover the large majority of the questions an owner brings.

It cannot (on its own)

  • Answer about the current minute. It does not see anything after the last export.
  • Hide its own age. A good answer says what it is current as of, rather than implying it is live.
  • Replace a live connection for the few questions that genuinely need this second.

A question a scheduled export handles well

Section titled “A question a scheduled export handles well”

“Which repairs are past their promised date?” A promised date and a completion date do not change because an hour passed, so a copy from this morning has everything needed and the answer is as good as a live one.

“Is this exact ring in the case right now?” A sale ten minutes ago is not in this morning’s copy. For that, the honest answer from a scheduled export is “as of this morning it was here,” and if right-now certainty matters, that calls for a live connection.

EvidenceSupported capability under gate

The connection in production on The Edge is fed by a scheduled export, so it answers as of the last export. We last verified it running on August 27, 2026. That cadence is exactly why it fits questions about repairs, customers, and sales history, and why “what is in the case right now” is the wrong question to bring to it.
