Can Claude answer questions from Komet Sales?

A simple walkthrough for wholesale floral operations that run on Komet Sales: what Claude can answer, how the connection works, and why this is an upstream tool rather than a retail-shop one.

Supported capabilityApplies to Komet Sales · Claude

Short answer

Yes. Komet Sales has a public API, so Claude reads it directly and in real time, read-only by the access you grant, behind a secure gateway. One thing to be clear about first: Komet is built for the wholesale side of the trade, importers, growers, and wholesalers, not for a retail flower shop. If you run a retail shop, your point of sale is more likely one of the other tools in this section. If you run a wholesale operation on Komet, this connection fits.

An importer, grower, or wholesaler that runs on Komet Sales and wants to ask plain questions about the operation without building reports. A retail florist is usually on a different system, so start with the retail tools in this section instead.

  • A Komet Sales account, with someone who can authorize API access.
  • The read access you want the connection to have.
  • A Claude account for each person who will ask questions.

This is a real setup-and-verify procedure. Follow it, and check the answer yourself before you rely on it.

  1. You authorize the access. Komet grants API access through your account. You authorize it with your own identity, and your credentials stay out of public examples.
  2. SkyNexus sets up the connection. We build a connector against Komet’s API and put it behind a secure MCP gateway, with read access and per-person permissions. The read is direct and live; there is no export and no separate copy.
  3. Add the connector in Claude. Using the endpoint and instructions SkyNexus supplies, add the custom connector in Claude, authenticate with your provisioned access, and confirm the tools you expect are present. Then start a test conversation.
  4. Run one bounded question, and specify it fully. Ask a concrete question about a named period, and state the date semantics, the filters, and the timezone. Because Komet is read live, the answer reflects the account as it is now.
  5. Reconcile against Komet, and investigate any gap. Run the same question in Komet’s own reporting and compare. If the numbers do not match, investigate before you rely on the answer.
  6. When something is off. An authentication failure is not the same as access your account was not granted. If Claude asks you to reconnect, follow the supplied sign-in steps and retry; if it still fails, contact SkyNexus. To stop future calls, revoke the access in your Komet account: that ends new reads through it.

It can

  • Answer in real time about your wholesale operation, as far as your access grants.
  • Let you check a figure yourself: reconcile it against your own Komet reports.
  • Run from the Claude a person already uses, by adding one connector.

It cannot (by the access you grant)

  • Write to or change your Komet account. The access we ask for is read only; a write would need write access you deliberately grant.
  • Reach data outside the read access you granted.
  • Serve a retail flower shop's point of sale. Komet is a wholesale system; a retail shop is on a different tool.

Is Komet the right tool for my flower shop?

Section titled “Is Komet the right tool for my flower shop?”

Probably not, if you run a retail shop. Komet Sales is built for the wholesale side, importers, growers, and wholesalers, so it sits upstream of the retail florist. If you sell arrangements to consumers, your point of sale is more likely one of the retail tools in this section, and this guide is here mainly for the wholesale operations that do run on Komet.

EvidenceSupported capability under gate

Komet Sales publishes a public API that an account owner can open with read access, so this is a self-serve connection. We connect it the same gateway way we run in production on The Edge, read-only and per-person, which we last verified running on August 27, 2026. Komet serves the wholesale side of the floral trade, which is why we frame it as an upstream tool rather than a retail-shop one.
